Soft-Film analysis 4

In the short film soft mise-en-scene plays an important role in repressenting each character and different social groups. The father in the film is dressed in formal clothing this suggest that he is either working class or middle class. His attitude is shown as calm even when he is being provoked. In

comparsion the youths who are causing him trouble are dressed in a typical stereotype with the use of tracksuits and trainers which protrays them as a menace to society before we have even been properly introduced to them. The props used  like the cricket bat that the son used to drive off the teenagers were a bit unusaual because you would never expect to see that used as a weapon.

The camera work used was quite different to other films. For the first part we see a moblie phone being used to film the fight that is happening at the beginning. The effect of the  jerky movement gives it that ameture feel to it of a handheld camera. This makes it more realistic to the viewer than just using a professional filming camera to record the scene. A tracking shot is used to follow the father while he is going to the shop to get his shopping.

â€‹The sound used in this short film is mostly non-diegetic with the use of everyday sounds that you would here when outside like the car alarm. The dialouge used in the film is very explict for the younger characters because that is how people may think young people speak with the use of slang the main reason.
